I started blogging in 2014 as a creative outlet and way to earn a little extra money…but you probably aren’t interested in that are you? After all, isn’t that the same story all these bloggers post on their “about” pages?
I could go on about my family, our dog, and my home, but what you are looking for is what this blog, Charming Imperfections, is going to do for you. And I’ll tell you just that.
Here you will find step by step tutorials, tips, tricks, and ideas from our modern industrial farmhouse to yours.
Simple. Straight to the point. Done.
See, I used to run this blog like a crazy lady working ridiculous hours to turn it into a money making entity. And I got burnt out. In an effort to make money, I lost sight of why I started blogging in the first place.
I took a looooong break and pursued a career in Real Estate instead.
But I didn’t want to throw away Charming Imperfections all together. I still find a great amount of joy from sharing my projects with all of you, so I’ve decided to continue blogging…with a few changes of course.
If you read Charming Imperfections before you’ll notice the aesthetic of the site has been pared down to an extreme minimum. All those extra widgets, pop ups, and fancy features were extra work for me to maintain and a distraction from the content you came here for. So, those have been removed.
I used to set a rigid posting schedule because the experts all say that if you don’t post consistently people will never come back to your site. Well, that’s gone too. My belief is that you probably don’t “follow” blogs like people used to. You came here by searching for something on Pinterest, found a great tutorial on my site, and used the content you needed. Now, if you enjoyed it, I hope you’ll come back for more as you find need in your life, but I don’t expect you to check in everyday to see what new project I’ve posted on that particular day.
That’s the gist of it. Simplicity. Information given to you in the most free and unhindered way possible because that allows me to share freely and without inhibition.
Welcome to the new Charming Imperfections!
Just in case you did want to know a bit about myself:
My name is Rebekah and I live in rural central Illinois with my husband, two kids, and goldendoodle. A country girl at heart, I love spending time outdoors. I’m a Christian and attend the Apostolic Christian Church where my husband grew up (and no, we don’t do arranged marriages).
My design preference is modern industrial farmhouse and I never buy things new! Almost everything in our home is either thrifted or handmade (which is good news for you if you’re seeking tutorials for that kind of thing!)
We live on a fairly tight budget, not because we’re poor, but because we are saving for big goals in the future. That means that most of the house related projects (you know, the frilly, not-really-necessary-to-live type things) are done on a dime. So, if you’re frugally minded, I’ve got a tip or two for you!
We vacation in Gulf Shores, AL almost every year.
I love coffee.
I have aspirations of being on the local school board one day #dreambig.
I’m a marketing, branding, business nerd. Anything on those topics I could binge watch, read, listen to all day long!
So that about sums it up. Thanks for checking in and I hope you enjoy this blog!
