Ah, the bulb. A classic among Christmas decorations. It stands
the test of time with it’s round, shiny beauty. It has graced Christmas trees for decades, but is it a fading fashion? Is there a reason they are now found so cheap in stores and people are practically giving them away at Garage Sales? Have they come to an end?
It may be so that more and more Christmas trees are seen with chic styles that extend beyond the basic bulb, however, I do not believe bulbs have lost their usefulness just yet. There are many other things you can do with these versatile little orbs besides hang them on the boughs of your ol’ pine tree. Here are 5 different ways to use bulbs:
1. Put them in a bowl
A large glass bowl is perfect for showing off a cluster of beautiful Christmas colored bulbs. Mix glossy ones with smoother finishes to get a multi-textured look. A tall candle in the center gives a light to reflect off all those mirrored spheres.

2. Place them in a vase
These tall vases can be purchased at the dollar tree for $1 each and are perfect for adding height to any Christmas scene. Alone, they are plain, boring glass vases, but filled with these bright blue bulbs, they become magical.
Bulbs are also great for scattering about on a shelf for a little added color. (How do you like our “first look” wedding pictures?)
3. Garnish a Wreath
I hot glued a bunch of plastic bulbs together to give this wreath some Christmas charm. I love the plastic bulbs. They don’t break when your 11 month old tries to eat them
4. Place them among some greenery
These bulbs look lovely all nestled in their bed of pine. The gold and green go so well together. It reminds me of those big moss balls people put out on shelves and tables during the summer. These are like those, but sparkly and not moss
5. Hang them on a Spray painted branch
I literally cut a branch down from our backyard and spray painted it silver. Hang it over a door frame, add some golden bulbs and you have a simple, lovely Christmas decoration. Have I mentioned how shiny they are? Who doesn’t love shiny things?
I hope this helps you think outside the box as you peer into your boxes of bulbs this Christmas season and wonder what your going to do with them. While they are pretty on tree’s, they can stand out even more using these, or other ways to display them.
