One of the biggest reasons women choose not to stay home with their kids is because of finances.

I couldn’t actually find the statistic that says this, but I’m sure it’s out there. Anyway, in my own personal conversations and experience, finance is the number one reason mothers cannot stay at home.
But, what if there was a way for those moms who really, really do want to stay home to focus on raising their babies and earn an income at the same time?
I’ve had to give this a lot of thought and research over the last two years of being a stay at home mom, living on an apprentice’s wages, and putting 50% of our income towards a mortgage.
Now, I’m not going to give you a comprehensive, generic list of income ideas that you would find by Googling the topic. I’m going to give you my experience of what really is the best way to earn an income from home as a mom.
Running an online business. (Not just blogging)
What? but Rebekah, you’ve been blogging this whole time? Isn’t that your business?
Nope. I’ve had to learn this the hard way, but blogging in and of itself is not a business. It’s a marketing technique…a really good marketing technique…nevertheless, if you have nothing to sell, you’ll have a really hard time making money from it.
Let’s talk about running an online business, which is totally different from trying to make money blogging. I’ll try to keep it short.
I believe this is the best way for any mom to make an income from home with their kids. There are very low start up costs, the market is easy to reach, and you can profit from virtually any niche! I know someone who makes money online selling a course about living in a vintage camper!
Now, there is a key difference between working online and running an online business. I do not want you to work online!
Working online is stuff like answering surveys, processing paperwork for some huge corporation, taking phone calls, that sort of thing.
Why I don’t want you doing this is because 1) your time is worth waaaayyyy more than that and 2) most of those are total scams anyway.
Is running an online business a bit scarier? Yes, but the rewards are massively more numerous and I am convinced that it can be done by pretty much anyone (like, I literally can’t think of a single person I know that couldn’t start an online business).

I’m really passionate about two topics in particular: being a stay at home mom and running a small business.
